Hey everyone I like to let you know we are back from our quite long hiatus. I been having some issues of my own and a good friend of mine has decided to move on with his life and I sort of been quite depressed for a long time now. It sucks a lot my friend was sort that of a partner and I mean a good friend / business partner of course. I always felt like we could do anything we put our mind to it and we had each others backs. Either way things change and people grow and move on so I decided it's time for me to do something about it and start working on Elmlor again.

Right away the biggest change to our Project is we are using the latest RPG Maker MV 1.4.1 Update and since then a lot of changes happen. The biggest one is a massive Pixi Library Update that should help with a lot of issues and performance problems we had suffered in the past.

Steam Greenlight system shuts down today after running for almost 5 years. There will be a new system called Steam Direct that will allow you to publish directly without needing to wait on votes.

We of course plan on Publishing on Steam down the road but that will take sometime first before we are even near that stage.

So today we show off the Inn keeper and her wonderful establishment. Here you can continue to get to know the local Inn Keeper as well as rent a room for a week. If you like you can also rent a large bed instead if you prefer.

Another massive change that you don't see in the video but you do notice in the screenshots is we have finally added proper HD to the game. Now it should run natively at 720P and should support most basic laptops and desktops.

Today we are introducing you to something we been slowly working on for the past few days on the side. It's our main intro zone and the other starting zones that will include a cave, the town play area and the beach front where the player starts in the game.

From here you find a camp fire and place down a piece of wood and light it and the local Inn keeper greets you and clears the blocked path for you.

From here the world opens up a bit letting you to choose what to do next though there is not many quests / events inside this area yet.

Don't have the wood needed for the fire:

Today we have completed the Basic Mining. Now when we mean Basic we mean basic the first few tiers and nothing too special. You need the right tool to do the job and not just the right tool but the right tier as well. Don't expect to mine diamond ore with a stone pick.

We finally added in Day and Night cycles and a tiny little clock in game to keep an eye on it. This day and night system does not only give us the apprentice of day and night, but it also allows us to event and script some really cool mechanics overtime. Things like being able to only do a certain activity during the day or special monsters coming out at night. We can also expand it further so when you sleep certain events like the Ore re-spawning system can reset.

We also started to work on the first small town. It's really basic town nothing too special maybe 3-4 buildings to start with. Inn, Bank, Blacksmith, and maybe something else :) We also added the new Forge / Anvil!

Today we have finally increased the max inventory limit of the engine from 99 to 999. We can actually go further then this but at times there are reasons to have limits. For now will keep it at 999 but if we feel like it's not enough in the end will increase it more.

We also have added in the new crafting system where you require a forge / anvil or in this case of testing a barrel roll :) Here you will open the crafting menu and be able to craft what you need. We also added in Ore Smelting.

Today we are taking a look at the Crafting system. It's still at the very early stages and we have not quite decided how will be doing the crafting overall. Though we are considering you need to craft at certain tables and such. Like a Wood Working Table or a Smeltery to smell ore's into bars.

There is even a level system and we can lock certain recipes to certain levels as well as allow you to obtain recipes outside of your recipe book to really add interesting mechanics to Elmlor.

With the new crafting system we also added the ability to pickup Stones and Wood from the ground to be used in the most basic crafting.

Picking up wood and you can see around the map the wood / stones:

In your inventory at this time you can click crafting and craft things via your inventory. Though we are considering requirement like a special work table.

We just crafted our first Stone Pick! As you can see we obtained 10 exp as well as the Stone Pick and it consumed the 3 stone and 1 wood.

Today we finally add in a questing system into Elmlor. The idea of the questing system is to make it more like MMORPG style. Of course our game at least for now is 100% single player but we do enjoy the feeling of MMORPG games and so that is one the biggest things were doing today with the more generic questing system.

The idea is there is a NPC who has a quest. You accept it in a fancy window and fetch whatever they need and then bring it back for a reward. If it's killing, fetch, or more complex event system.

Today we have some really exciting news. We have now added a global storage system to the game. Around the world there will be these storage chests unlocked. They will not appear until you have unlocked it via spending gold.

Right now the plan is to charge the initial 20 slots for 1,000 gold and each upgrade of 20 slots for an additional 1,000 gold tacked on each time. So the first update would be 2k, then 3k, 4k, etc.

We have some more good news today. We finally fixed out Timer issues with re-spawns of events. Even though we hope the current system is temporary it might become permanent if the other one does not get fixed in the future.

So now ore's will come back overtime of course during our example in the dev log video they come back quite fast.

We also have a new save system, equipment screen and we also changed our battle system to more the final fantasy style where the character is at the right of the screen fighting the enemy rather then the perspective of you are the character and you never see them.

Another big change is now the game is in 720P. We don't feel like 1080P is suitable but we also felt the old resolution was just too chaotic as most people would rather play at a proper set res like 720. Sorry 4k Gamers you will have to upscale :)

You can also see the effect status above the enemies head. If multiple effects are on them then it will scroll through them above their head.
